Files on Islay

This page is the entry point for several files about Islay, Scotland.

PDF stands for portable document format, which can be directly displayed on screen by most browsers, and also printed. It has the advantage of having smaller files than the Word versions. Sections of a PDF file can be cut or copied, but because it is an output format, the document itself cannot be changed. If your browser doesn't automatically support PDF format, you can obtain a free copy of the Acrobat pdf reader by clicking here.

Microsoft Word files can be downloaded, saved, and modified as you wish.

1. Place names

A file is available containing about 450 place names of Islay farms and settlements, with grid references to the British Ordnance survey Landranger map series. Versions in Microsoft Word format (about 100K) and Acrobat PDF format (about 45K) are available.
