Description

Senior Lecturer with Management Communication , School of Management, I teach communication in introductory courses in communication and intercultural communication, as well as managing conflict and consensus, and organisational communication. With extensive industry experience in relationship management, organisational development, facilitating business planning and teamwork, I emphasise practical applications of communication theory and concepts.

I am particularly interested in stakeholder participation in organisations and the changing nature of organisational membership, with particular reference to elders (people over 65yrs). One specific research focus is communication issues associated with retirement village organisations and retirement village residents. I have published in Discourse and Communication, Australian Journal of Communication, Work, Employment and Society, and The Communication Journal of New Zealand.

My experience prior to entering academia includes stakeholder relationships management, organisational change management, quality assurance, staff development, and health social work practice. I also facilitate workshops and seminars for community groups.

I am a member of  International Communication Association (ICA) and the Australian and New Zealand Communication Association (ANZCA); and associate member of the Association for Retirement Village Residents.
